About My Business
Welcome to Home on the Range Pet Sitting LLC. My name is Kelley Richie, and I would like to share some of my background with you. First and foremost, I love animals! Dogs have been a big part of my life since my parents bought our first dog when I was four. Although I’ve had at least one dog in my life ever since, there has been a variety of other pets in my life, including cats, fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, rabbits, and ferrets.
German Shorthair Pointers have been my primary breed for many years. My husband & I currently have 4 German Shorthair Pointers “fur kids and 1 cat”
I have worked in the Heavy Duty Trucking business, parts sales and services for 35 years. I also have 8+ years of pet sitting experience. One day, I decided to embrace an opportunity to “re-invent” myself. I wanted to work with and care for animals, while pursuing my passion for excellence in customer service and utilizing my business and animal care experience. The idea of starting my own pet sitting business was a natural fit.
I am licensed, insured, bonded, certified in first aid & CPR and a member of NAPPS (National Association of Pet Sitters), the largest organization of professional pet sitters.

I have had and loved animals my whole life, to me they are family. I was a manager of a horse farm in upstate New York, I had the pleasure of taking care of 30 horses. I also had horses of my own, as well as chickens, cows, pigs, goats and birds. I have also worked as a pet stylist. I have had many jobs in my life but the ones with animals have been my most rewarding. Right now I have two dogs of my own, Monty, my rescue Chihuahua and my Mona, a Boston terrier.

Kim
Hey there! I’m Kim.
I’ve lived in Northeastern NV for all but 5 years of my life.
I have a big blended family, we’re like the modern day Brady Bunch! 4 kiddos are at home, 2 boys & 2 girls, from 14 to 4. My animal kids are:
-a Yellow Lab girl, Carole Baskin
(Tennis balls are life.)
-a Braque Francais boy puppers, Tuff
(We lovingly refer to him as Fluff. He’s quite the princess;)
-a Sphynx girl, Fiona. (She hates everyone she’s ever met…with the exception of the little girl across the street.)
-our most recent addition, a bearded dragon named Dart.
-6 chickens & 4 ducks
I’ve had pets my whole life and helped provide many types of care and love for friend’s and family’s fur babies, livestock, and critters.
I look forward to meeting you and providing that same level of care and love to yours!

Kiki
I’m a lifelong animal lover who’s grown up surrounded by horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and chickens here in Elko (recently moved from Hawaii) I’m a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant, but spending time with animals is my favorite way to unwind. I have my very own Yellow Lab whose name is Groot and 2 orange cats named Chicken and Nugget. I treat every pet like family and truly believe they’re our babies who deserve all the love, care and attention in the world

Denny
I was born and raised in Elko, leaving though for forty years and returning a couple years ago. I have been around animals all my life, and while living in Florida a few years back I started a little pet sitting business, which I basically ran out of my golf cart, as I just did the people who lived in our retirement community. I have had cats, dogs, raised Pigmy Goats, and owned and have trained thoroughbred race horses for over twenty years, so I am very familiar with the love these animals need, and the care they so deserve. I wasn't planning on working at all when I moved back, as I am retired, but my granddaughter talked me into calling Kelley, Owner of Home on the Range pet sitting to see about working for her. And as most of you know she hired me and I have truly loved meeting my new fury friends, along with there owners, which has been great. Your pets will always be loved and cared for just as if they were my own.

Jade
My name is Jade and I’ve always been an animal lover. I currently have 4 animals Shiro, Machi, Zuri and Moo Moo. Before moving to Elko I live in Billings, MT where I was a foster mom to puppies through a wonderful organization called Rez Dog Rescue. Me and my dogs are very active and we enjoy going for walks in the mountains, car rides and boating in the summertime.
Skye
My name is Skye, and since birth I've always had a very strong bond with my pets and animals in general. The cats that my parents had before I was born very quickly became MY cats, almost ignoring the both of them in favor for me! When I was young, I had a knack for taming and riding the more belligerent and green horses on the ranch, getting me into some trouble but ultimately teaching me patience. In college I began pet sitting for people in the area and formed some long lasting bonds with both the critters I cared for and their people as well. I'm also pretty well versed in caring for exotic animals, as during that time I had a pet rat named Onigiri who helped me study and got to sightsee throughout campus!
In my downtime, I'm an artist and primarily a ceramicist currently at the GBC studio spending my days playing in the mud. My cat Faye is my pride and joy and I've been taking the time recently to get her used to wearing clothes so that I can knit her a sweater someday.

Kylee
Hi! My name is Kylee. I’ve been living in Spring Creek for the past 10+ years with my husband, our daughter, and our yellow lab- Zoey. Animals have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm the type of person to be hanging out with the dogs at a party, instead of people. Over the years, I’ve cared for a variety of pets. I love being around all animals, and I treat every pet I care for like one of my own. I understand how important it is to know your furry (or feathered) family members are in good hands, and I’m here to provide that peace of min
The life of a pet sitter is more than just a series of cuddles and playtime with furry friends. Behind the scenes, pet sitting is a real profession requiring responsibility, compassion, and the flexibility to adapt to different animal personalities and homes. Pet sitters have become a go-to solution for owners who travel frequently or work long hours, wanting their pets to be safe, comfortable, and cared for in familiar surroundings.
My pet sitter team is made up of very loving, honest, reliable, professional sitters who take the responsibility of caring for beloved pets as a privilege and honor.
When we walk pups, we require that they are always on a leash, so other pups are avoided and waste clean up is a must. On a typical walk, we ensure that the pups have an enjoyable time outside while staying within their behavior boundaries.
Importance of Keeping your Pet at Home + Benefits of Hiring a Professional Pet Sitter
Many households have at least one pet. Pets provide owners with many benefits, including health ones such as relieving stress and lowering blood pressure. Often, people view their pets as members of the family.
When you need to leave home for a vacation or possibly for work, figuring out what to do with your pet can leave you feeling stressed. You want to ensure your furry companion is well taken care of when you’re not around.
But boarding your dog seems cruel, and putting it in an unfamiliar place might make it more withdrawn, sad, or aggressive.
The best option you can provide for a pet is keeping it within the home, in an environment that it’s familiar with and where it feels safe and secure. So, how do you go about doing that? An excellent decision is to hire a professional pet sitter.
No Anxieties or Worries With a Pet Sitter
Pets usually can sense when we’re uneasy or feeling anxious. So if you’re nervous about an upcoming trip and what to do with your pet, you don’t want to project that onto your pet. Avoid those feelings and be put at ease by keeping your pet at home and getting a pet sitter to take care of it.
Your dog will be in its own space without an adjustment period. Being comfortable will ensure that your pet doesn’t suffer from things like separation anxiety, which can lead to unwanted behaviors.
Pet Sitters are Prepared
Another advantage of keeping your pet in its home with a sitter is that if something happens, such as an emergency, your pet sitter is well-equipped to handle it. If your pet becomes sick, the sitter understands when it’s time to contact the client for help and take it into the vet’s office for an exam if necessary.
A sitter will also be great at communicating with you to let you know what’s going on and providing reassurance in the event of an urgent situation. You can feel comfortable knowing a pet sitter understands you need to stay updated.
Pet Sitters Keep Your Pets Comfortable
Top-notch pet sitters go beyond the basics of taking care of your pet. Pets like predictable routines and schedules, so pet sitters will take the time to learn and stick to those routines and keep your pet most comfortable.
Sitters work to help your pet feel more secure and relaxed. They’ll adhere to schedules, including feeding times, walking, exercise, and playtime. And, if you’re working on training your pet, they can even help carry on with that part of their scheduled time each day, too!
Pet Sitters Ensure Your Pet Gets Necessary Socialization
When dogs or cats are introduced to surroundings and other people, they become more well-rounded and less likely to be skittish or aggressive. When you hire a pet sitter, even with the most friendly of pets, they may have to work at gaining trust. But have no worries; the sitter knows how to give the right affection to appeal to your pet.
The socialization aspect is far more manageable with the pet being in the home, too, since it’s around familiar surroundings and will feel more relaxed.
Individual Attention
One last benefit to hiring a pet sitter is that they know how to provide the best attention for your furry friend. In many cases, pet sitters have pets themselves, so they are aware of things, including your pet’s body language, to adapt and care for the animal.
One-on-one time is essential for a pet’s well-being, and without their owner there, a pet sitter is the next best person to handle that attention. We all want our pets to feel safe and secure when we’re away from home, so keeping your pet in a familiar place at home with someone who knows how to provide the best attention will provide peace of mind, and your pet will be grateful.
